Chop Point School

School History & Philosophy

Chop Point School's goal is to provide a happy, supportive, family-like atmosphere in which to educate children. The school seeks to motivate students through high expectations and student-teacher relationships. When students realize how much their teachers care about them, they respond positively to challenges.

Peter Willard and Frank Hayward first met while attending special graduate sessions in education in Wyoming in 1964. Two years later they founded Chop Point Camp. Because of their desire to offer a quality education in a caring, Christian environment, they opened the school in 1987.

"Our children have been at Chop Point for eight years, and it is the best decision we ever made." — parent

It is the staff's firm belief that the family and a happy home are more important than is school. Chop Point believes the traditional family is the greatest social institution created by God. Parents are welcome to take their children out of school either for educational activities or family recreational excursions.

The staff strongly encourages parental involvement in a child's education. Our teachers want to work with parents to ensure each child keeps up with their homework and remains at or above grade level.
